There are many ways to get involved in the church. Read below about all our different ministries!

Teams & Committees

Leadership Team

This team makes administrative decisions about the life and ministry activity of the church. It includes the chairs of the Finance and Trustee committees and other interested persons. ​

Social Connections Team​

This team is in charge of organizing events for the congregation and friends to attend. The events include game night, Chili cook-off, church picnic, etc.

​Finance Committee

This committee creates and monitors the church’s annual budget by reviewing the Treasurer’s reports. It considers ministry, outreach, and property maintenance needs throughout the year. ​

Outreach & Missions Team

This team works together to find ways to better serve the members of the community.

​Trustees Committee

This committee is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the church properties. Members and others may do needed work or arrange for professionals to complete the needed tasks. ​

Music Ministry

Sanctuary Choir practices on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:15a.m in the Sanctuary (July & August break). All musical abilities are welcome.

Handbell Choir practices on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Currently the bell choir has 9 ringers but more are welcome.

Other Ministries 

Adopt-a-Highway

For more than 30 years Park Ave UMC has been responsible for cleaning trash from a two mile stretch of PA 997 from Rt. 11N to the foot of Air Hill. Twice a year volunteers meet for breakfast at Greenvillage followed by trash pickup.

Prayer Chain

Park Avenue is a praying church. Prayer requests can be made known to the office or Pastor and can be forwarded to a group of people committed to faithfully praying for the request. 

United Methodist Connectional Giving

United Methodists are connectional people, in strong relationships with each other. We support the ministries of the United Methodist Church through prayer and financial support by our Shares of Ministry and special Sunday offerings.

Prayer Shawl & Prayer Square Ministry

​Through the efforts of our crafters, prayer shawls are available for anyone in need. These crocheted shawls are prayerfully created and blessed during a Sunday worship service. They are offered to all of our homebound members and friends and anyone experiencing grief or illness. Prayer squares are given to those who have received a prayer shawl but continue to have ongoing needs.

Blessing Boxes

The members of Park Ave support this ministry by collecting canned goods and non-perishable items that they then distribute to the many blessing boxes in and around Chambersburg. Members may also give monetary donations to help purchase the items that go in the boxes.

Groups 

We welcome and encourage all members and visitors to become active participants in these programs of education and fellowship.

Bible Study

The pastor leads various weekly Bible studies from September until mid-May. We study one of the books of the Bible or a specific topic of interest. The studies are informal, class participation is encouraged, and are open to everyone. The other Bible Studies occur throughout the year on Wednesday mornings and evenings. The next Bible study will begin in mid-February 2026. Please email the Pastor for more information. 

Supper Club

Small groups of around 8 people gather once a month to eat out together at an area restaurant and enjoy each other’s company. Every four months the groups are “reshuffled.” If you are interested in joining a group, please contact the church office. 

Ruth Circle

Meets the first Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. for dessert and a program. All ladies of the church are welcome.
